Chester offers a country atmosphere with good schools, excellent services, a downtown village business area, large parks, recreational facilities, easy access to cultural centers and volunteer fire department.  Chester is comprised of two entities the Borough and the Township which have their own police stations and municipalities.

Major Roads

The major road in and out of Chester is route 206. If you take 206 N for about 10 mins that will get you got Rt 80 and 206 S 10  mins will get you to Rt 287. For those of you who are looking for mass transit as a form of transportation then you will be able to take the  Peapack Gladstone train or the Dover train line which in my opinion would be the better option since it has less stops into the city. 

Schools

Between the Boro and Twp they have 4 schools children would be able to attend. You have Dickerson k-2 and Bragg 3-5 and are located on the same lot. From there you would attend Black River Middles School 6-8 and end at West Mendham High 9-12. And in case you didn’t already know West Mendham High is consistently rated highly for top high school in NJ.

Library

From there they have the Chester Library located at 250 West Main St.  Just to list some of what the library offers are: A Children’s room, virtual workshops, but normally they are offered on site, they house a collection of over 70k books, dvd’s, cd’s video games, audio books and ebooks. They also offer and array of adult and teen programs, public computers, online research services and community meeting rooms.

Shops and Restaurants

If you are looking to shop or to eat then look no further.  Chester has something of everyone with the Main Street, Streets of Chester, Chester Spring Shopping Center and Chester Shopping Mall.   To name a few of the bogs shops and restaurants you have HomeGoods, Marshalls, Shoprite, Deans Natural Food Market and Starbucks.  There are over 80 places to choose from and I will attach a link to them at the end of the show.

Fitness and Health

If you are looking for a gym or health center then you have come to the right place.  There are 12 locations to fit your needs and for those who would rather workout from home there are many great personal trainers to choose from.  

Medical Professional

When picking a town that offers many options for medical professional make sure to check out the plethora of family doctors, dentists, eye doctors, chiropractors, urgent care and specialists  Chester has.  There is no shortage of health care providers and many of them come highly recommended.

State and Public Parks

Chester is home to two beautiful state parks with many trails made for hiking, picnicking, fishing, swimming and more.  Black River State Park covers an area of 560 acres along the eastern shore of the Black River and is located between Long Valley and Chester.  Hacklebarney State Park offers breathtaking views in the northern portions of Black River with 465 acres of hiking trails.  

If you are looking for a place to take your kids to play or just relax then you have 9 public parks to choose from with the two most popular being Cubb Park and Municipal Field.  Every year people come from all around to participate in many of the community events such as carnivals, art & crafts, festivals and fairs.

One of the great things about living in the Northwest are all the farms they have to offer and Chester is no stranger to the popularity of theirs.  With 5 active farms that offer a wide range of activities you can spend all day with the family and still feel like you haven’t seen enough.  People come from all areas including NY to visit our farms and enjoy the array of activities from apple and pumpkin picking, hayrides and corn mazes to yummy apple cider, donuts and pies.
